About this drink

The earliest known printed recipe is in Hugo Ensslin's Recipes for Mixed Drinks of 1916, crème de violette included. The Savoy Cocktail Book left the violette out in 1930, and the pale violet colour went missing for decades, returning only when the liqueur came back on the market.
