Method

Shake the gin, orange juice, grenadine and absinthe with ice and strain into a chilled coupe. It takes no garnish.

About this drink

A Paris drink of the 1920s from Harry's New York Bar, named by Harry MacElhone after the much-debated gland-transplant experiments of the day. A bar spoon of absinthe is all it takes to leave a herbal line under the orange.
