Method
Fill a wine glass with ice, pour in the sparkling wine, add the bitter aperitif liqueur, then a splash of soda. Stir once and add a slice of orange.
About this drink
Spritz comes from the German for a splash: under Habsburg rule, visitors to the Veneto cut the local wine with water. Soda replaced the water, a bitter aperitif and sparkling wine were added, and the result became the region's pre-dinner drink. It joined the IBA list in 2011.
