About this drink
Created at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans in 1938 and generally credited to its head bartender, Walter Bergeron; the hotel's revolving Carousel Bar, where it is drunk today, opened only after the war. Vieux Carré is French for 'old square', the French Quarter, and the recipe reads like the place: American whiskey and French cognac in one glass.
